Fellowship & Pastoral Care

The Christian Fellowship and Pastoral Care Ministries
"to help all people grow in fellowship"

Christian Companions
This group of fourteen Pastoral Care Visitors meets monthly with a speaker every other month. Six visitors are certified Level 1 Pastoral Visitors.

They use the knowledge gained as they continue to visit in area Retirement Homes and Nursing Homes.

Co-ordination with other Anglican churches in the community is being established to improve the level of Pastoral Care available.

They also work as advocates to implement visiting in Nursing Homes where there is no Chaplain present or visiting.

Twelve visitors were commissioned early in 2004 and this group continues to flourish.

St Bede’s Group

This group, holds regular meetings for Christian Fellowship and learning including Corporate Communions.

This group actively supports a number of parish projects, including the Youth Group and the Rector’s Discretionary Fund. During a typical year, the group hears from a variety of guest speakers from the parish on topics of interest.

St. Catherine’s Group - The Craft Group

The St. Catherine’s Group meets on Wednesday mornings in the Peasgood Gallery from 9:30-11:00 a.m.

The group helps at receptions and parish mailings.

One major project has been knitting Teddy Bears for the Alzheimer Society and Teddies for Tragedies (in third world countries).

The group also enjoys social lunches throughout the year.

Men’s Prayer and Fellowship Group

The Men’s Group meets in the Peasgood Gallery on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month at 8:30 am and recently celebrated its 30th anniversary with a breakfast.

Scouts Canada - Seventh Oshawa

The Seventh Oshawa operates four sections of the movement, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Venturers.

All sections enjoy a strong leadership team and participate in many activities including outings, instruction, summer and winter camps and a camp at the Adventure Base in Haliburton.

St George’s has been privileged to sponsor this group for over 75 years but has no direct control over the program.
