Music - The Choir

Saint George’s choir, led by organist and choir master Carmine Lappano, sings at the weekly 10.00am service. It is a congenial group of about 30 singers, ranging in age from 10 to 75+. We rehearse on Thursday evenings from 7:30 p.m.to 9:30 p.m. Our repertoire focuses on the traditional Anglican from the sixteenth century (Byrd, Gibbons, Tallis) through Purcell, Greene, Wesley, up to the twentieth century - Stanford, Harris, Britten and the rest. We also sing a great deal of Canadian music, especially the unaccompanied works of Willan, Wm France, W.H. Anderson, etc. Our style of psalmody is mainly Anglican chant and occasionally plainsong, and our congregational hymns come from the Anglican hymnbook, Common Praise.

If you are interested in joining the Choir, please contact the church office at 905-723-7875.
